Circularity in concrete production

Moving towards the future

The Re-Con Line from Mapei helps concrete producers to make the move towards a more circular and effective production model by offering cost effective and sustainable solutions. Under the four key words of Reclaim, Clean, Recycle and Recarbonate substantial savings in waste handling costs can be made through transformation of returned concrete and truck washing slurry into value material.
Re-Con Line also offers products that enhances circularity of material flows by reducing the need for high cost virgin raw materials by mitigating problems of using recycled concrete, manufactured sand or clay contaminated sand in new concrete.

Reclaim

Transforms returned concrete into reclaimed aggregates

2-component system of superabsorbent polymer and hardener.
Transforms fresh returned concrete to a granular material by chemically binding of the free water (Part A) and stabilizing and accelerating the process (Part B).

Clean

Method to reduce  truck washing slurry

After Re-Con Dry Washing, truck washout can be done with much less water. The water will contain 70% less slurry fines and have a lower pH and reduced heavy metal pollution due to the cementitious residue having been absorbed by the Re-Con Dry Washing aggregates.
Note that even when using a wet process concrete reclaiming system, slurry still needs to be filtered away from the washing water.
This is not the case for Re-Con Dry Washing.

Recycle

Contributes to higher dosages of recycled aggregates or other demanding raw materials

An absorption inhibition polymer system that blocks porosities and mineral structures in recycled concrete aggregates,
high fines sands from absorbing water or plasicizing admixtures.

The sum of it all: Reduce CO2

sum

CO2 reduction because of:

• Less transport of material IN
• Less transport of Waste OUT
• Recarbonation potential of aggregates produced from returned concrete aand truck washing slurry
