Building product solutions provider, Mapei, has developed an easy-to-use, high grip-strength cementitious adhesives system for the tiling of walls, floors and ceilings, ideal for both DIY and commercial applications.
Kerabond T-R (C1T) and Kerabond T-R Express(C1FT) are single component, cementitious adhesives with no vertical slip. Composed of fine grade resins and materials that lend extraordinary bond strength, this makes them suitable for ceramic, porcelain, natural stone tiles and mosaics. Kerabond T-R Express also offers the added benefit of a fast curing time of just 6-hours, ideal for use in internal or external applications on walls or floors where speed is of the essence.
“What makes these adhesives unique is their anti-slip and high grip strength on almost any surface, albeit concrete, synthetic, wood or gypsum. This makes it a must-have for contractors working on multiple surface types or where instant adhesion is required without the risk of vertical sag or slippage,” says Zamaswazi Ntobela, product manager for ceramics at Mapei South Africa.
The products are manufactured to the company’s international standards at its advanced Roodekop facility which ensures cost effective pricing and availability throughout the country and surrounding regions. The products take their place among Mapei’s wide range of tile adhesive products which includes Keracolor FF tile grout, a polymer modified cementitious grout for joints up to 6mm with DropEffect® water-repellent technology that is available in a variety of different colours.
“What makes Keracolor FF such an attractive product for when it comes to finishing off your tiling project, is the variety of colours available. Furthermore, it is easy to clean, has lower water requirements and is now available in both 20kg and 5kg packaging. This is therefore suitable for both contractors and DIY” adds Zamaswazi.
Mapei’s range of tile adhesives also include more technical adhesives and grouts such as Ultracolor Plus, which is fast-setting and flexible. With Bioblock technology, it protects against mould and mildew, lending itself to waterproof and hygienic applications. It has anti-efflorescence properties for joints from two to 20 millimetres and is also available in a variety of colours.
To meet more specialist requirements such as swimming pools, food and medical facilities, epoxy grouts are used and the Kerapoxy range has several products available in various colours.
An innovative new product is Kerapoxy Design, which has a decorative finish for grouting glass mosaic, ceramic tiles and stone material with an aesthetic look. It can also be used with Mapeglitter which adds a sparkle to metallic and glass tiles.
