Butyl-Based, Sealing Tape for Use with MAPEI’s Bitumen-Based, Crack-Isolation Membranes

Mapetape BB is a butyl-based, waterproofing sealing tape for use with MAPEI peel-and-stick, crack-isolation membranes. Mapetape BB has an extremely aggressive grip and superior long-term adhesion, ensuring immediate sealing upon contact. It is reverse-rolled for easy, fast application. A clear release liner on one side allows for easy handling and dry-fitting. Mapetape BB is compatible with Mapeguard 2, Mapesonic 2, Mapesound 90 and Mapeguard CI membranes.

FAQs

Can Mapesonic 2 be used in exterior environments?

Yes, with these limitations: Do not use on exterior floors with drainage of less than 1/4" per foot. And do not use on shower floors or in submerged applications, or on floors subject to standing water.

Can Mapesonic 2 be used for waterproofing, sound reduction and uncoupling?

Yes, it can be used for sound reduction, crack isolation, waterproofing and vapor management. However, when using Mapesonic 2 for vapor management, do not use MAPEI SM Primer or MAPEI SM Primer Fast; instead, use MAPEI HM Primer. If there are seams, the use of Mapetape BB tape is also necessary for waterproofing and vapor management.

Can I install LVP/LVT over Mapesonic 2?

Yes, with these limitations: Use MAPEI adhesive Ultrabond ECO 350, Ultrabond ECO 360, Ultrabond ECO 373 or Ultrabond ECO 399. Also, follow MAPEI’s Technical Data Sheet instructions and use a 1/32" U-notch trowel. Finally, expect 60 to 90 minutes of flash time before installing the LVP/LVT.
