Mapei Far East collaborated with the
Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) to host our first seminar of the year, focusing on sustainability and
Mapei’s Zero Line of products. The oversubscribed event attracted more than 85 participants from both the private and government sectors, including key stakeholders from the built environment industry.
The seminar featured Ms.
Mikaela Decio, Mapei SpA's Global Head of Sustainability, who delivered an insightful presentation on the importance of low-carbon construction materials. She highlighted the pivotal role of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Life-Cycle Assessments (LCAs) in measuring environmental impact and underscored how low-emission materials contribute to reducing carbon footprints.
This event reaffirmed Mapei’s commitment to sustainability as a leading manufacturer of construction materials and chemicals. Through extensive research and development, Mapei continues to innovate low-carbon products that maintain durability and performance while reducing carbon emissions.
Adding to the dialogue, Guest Speaker, Mr. Tan Kian Chuan from SGBC Founding Member
City Developments Limited shared from a property developer's strategic approach to decarbonization. He provided key insights into the practical strategies being implemented and emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable progress.
As the built environment sector accelerates its efforts to achieve net-zero goals, low-carbon building materials remain critical to shaping a sustainable future. Innovations such as low-carbon concrete admixtures, adhesives, waterproofing, mortars and other innovative products must align with global standards like EPDs and LCAs to ensure meaningful impact.
The seminar underscored the importance of aligning emerging technologies with robust environmental frameworks to build a sustainable, low-carbon future.
