Mapei recently sponsored the 2024 Annual ACI Seminar organized by the American Concrete Institute Singapore Chapter, where leading experts gathered to discuss cutting-edge developments in construction productivity and digital transformation.

The event opened with remarks from Lu Jin Ping (ACI Singapore) and Er. Kaliannan Thanabal (BCA). In the session on advanced materials, Prof. Liu Jiaping (Southeast University, China) presented strategies for mitigating shrinkage cracking, Dr. Jeyatharan Kumarasamy (Singapore LTA) shared productivity initiatives in transport infrastructure, and Dr. Du HongJian (NUS) discussed sustainability in concrete design.

In the segment on contemporary practices, Dr. Justin Yeoh (NUS) explored AI and BIM applications for concrete design, Assoc. Prof. Muhd Norhasri Muhd Sidek (Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia) discussed non-destructive testing, and Dr. Herbert Zheng Wei (Glorious Concrete, Hong Kong) highlighted lightweight concrete solutions. For construction efficiency, Dr. Tan Jun Yew (Samwoh Ready Mix, Singapore) introduced new concrete technologies, Dr. T. Tamilselvan (Joe Green Pte Ltd, Singapore) spoke on high-strength lightweight concrete, and Assoc. Prof. Yang En-Hua (NTU, Singapore) covered fiber-reinforced composites for rehabilitation.

The digital transformation session included Dr. Wang Jun (West Construction, China) on intelligent manufacturing, Daryl Chew Kok Hoong (Pylon AI) on IoT-driven sustainability solutions, and Chang Qingyang (Concrete AI, Singapore) on optimized concrete curing techniques. Together, these presentations offered a comprehensive view of innovations driving the future of construction productivity and sustainability.
