American Concrete Institute (ACI) Seminar Sponsorship

Recently, Mapei Singapore had the opportunity to sponsor the annual seminar by ACI on Concrete Horizons: Advancing Sustainability and Innovation in Concrete Technology. Mapei has consistently been at the forefront of research and development in the construction industry, prioritizing sustainable construction practices and environmentally responsible products such as our Re-Con Zero and RE-Con Zero Evo. These two products are the key innovative products of Mapei Singapore's Concrete Industry Solutions team for the seminar.

The seminar consisted of several speakers from the academic field of civil and material science engineering as well as professionals from the concrete industry. Mr. Tan Sze Tiong, Group Director /Chief Sustainability Officer, Building & Research Institute, Housing & Development Board (HDB) was a keynote speaker of the first session and highlighted the core challenges HDB faces in Singapore's built environment industry.

As HDB is the largest contributor to construction projects in Singapore, Mr Tan highlighted key challenges HDB faces in the prefabrication journey and shared candily with industry professionals on how companies like Mapei can address and work with the government on problems by providing innovation solutions in the pre-fabrication value-chain with a focus on improving productivity as the key enabler.

Other speakers also spoke about innovative concrete technologies such as using low-carbon methods to reduce concrete's inherently large carbon footprint to key topics in sustainability and how key technology drivers in sustainability will be a focus in 2024 and beyond. 

The event also provided a unique networking opportunity for attendees from Mapei Singapore and regional colleagues to connect with peers and engage in fruitful discussions on sustainable practices in the concrete industry. This collaboration between Mapei Singapore and ACI-SC underscores the importance of collective efforts to address sustainability challenges and innovations in concrete technology.
