Why do we need fast-setting systems?

Various situations call for fast-setting systems at job sites. One common need is for a quick installation and hand-over in order to minimise disruption of business operations. In another case, the selected stone material may be humidity-sensitive causing the tiles to warp when they are unevenly exposed to moisture for extended periods. Therefore, fast-setting adhesives are recommended for stone installations.

As tile-flooring works are multi-stage, layered processes, all materials used for a fast-track job should be similarly fast-setting and curing.

Fast-track system for swimming pools

The typical system for renovating a swimming pool takes 21 days. With the Mapei fast-track system, the entire process can be cut down to a minimum of 3 days up to 7 days before filling with water.

Apply cementitious waterproofer Mapelastic or Mapelastic Smart, reinforced with Mapenet 150 alkali-resistant mesh.

Use Granirapid or Elastorapid tile adhesive for installation of ceramic tiles and glass mosaics.

Grout tiles with Ultracolor Plus and seal expansion joints with Mapesil AC acetic silicone sealant.

In environments subjected to aggressive chemical agents, an option is to use reaction-type adhesives classified R2 according to EN 12004, such as Kerapoxy or Kerapoxy Design, for tile fixing and grouting.
