Infrastructures of connectivity: the Z Mohr tunnel
A new infrastructure was completed in India by using Mapei concrete admixtures, mortars, fibers and waterproofing solutions
The 6.5-kilometer Z Mohr Tunnel provides critical all-weather connectivity between several areas in Jammu and Kashmir in India. Using cutting-edge Mapei technologies for concrete and waterproofing, the project overcomes challenging terrain, demonstrating innovative infrastructure development in India's mountain regions.
Mapei India played a key role in the construction of the tunnel by supplying various products such as accelerators for shotcrete (MAPEQUICK AF 70), admixtures for shotcrete and lining and PQC or Pavement Quality Concrete (DYNAMON SX IN and DYNAMON SR 116 PQ), fibers for shotcrete (MAPEFIBRE BG 55).
MAPEFAST CF/L, an antifreeze admixture, was crucial to formulate concrete in winter times with low temperatures. Besides, Mapei India has contributed to the waterproofing operations by supplying MAPEPLAN TU S 20 membrane and MAPELASTIC TU GREEN.
The fireproofing mortar IGNISILEX MALTA 4 ensured the completion of the final layer.
Mapei has been present in India since 2011 and currently has 3 manufacturing plants (in Bangalore, Vadodara and Kosi), 4 sales offices (New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Vadodara) and a staff of over 300 people.
Since its inception, it has been involved in prestigious projects in every state of India such as the Trump Towers in Pune, the Statue of Unity in Narmada, and the Chandrodaya Mandir Temple of Vedic Planetarium, the Atal Tunnel in Pir Panjal and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
