Application steps

1
Cementitious screed
Create a sloping screed 40 to 80 mm thick.
Position a series of levelling guides, spread the mix, carefully compact the mix and float-finish the surface.
2
Adhesive
Spread the adhesive on the screed on the balcony edging with a notched trowel to install the edging profiles.
3
Edging profile for balconies
PROTEC CPGV
Apply the edging profiles to protect and finish the outer edges of the balcony.
If necessary, provide additional mechanical fastening.
Maintain a distance of approx. 5 mm between profile-profile and between profile-90°outside/inside corner. At joints between profiles, apply the special joint piece.
4
Rubber tape
Apply the tape with MONOLASTIC TURBO ZERO to waterproof joints, all the corners and edges between the substrate and perimeter walls.
5
Cementitious waterproofing
Apply two layers of product with a trowel, roller or brush to form a thickness of at least 0.8 mm.
6
Adhesive
Apply the adhesive using the double-buttering method with a notched trowel suitable for the type and format of the tiles so that the back of the tiles is sufficiently wetted with adhesive.
To maintain the correct grout size and avoid the formation of lippage between adjacent tiles during installation, use the levelling systems from the MAPELEVEL range.

Porcelain tiles
8
Grout
Once the adhesive has set, carefully fill the grouts to their full depth using a rubber trowel without leaving gaps or steps.
When the grout loses its plasticity, clean the excess product with a wet hard cellulose sponge.
It is possible to finish the surface also when the mix is partially set, with a damp Scotch-Brite® sponge. Remove any cementitious residues with ULTRACARE KERANET.
9
Sealant
Seal the perimeter and expansion joints after inserting MAPEFOAM to set the correct depth, then finish off the sealant surface with ULTRACARE SMOOTH SILICONE.
