Installation of ceramic tiles

Application steps

1
Existing cracked flooring
The old tiles must be well anchored to the substrate and clean. The surface of the existing floor can be cleaned using ULTRACARE HD CLEANER diluted 1:5 or 1:10 depending on the degree of dirt of the floor.
2
Adhesive
Apply the adhesive with a 5 mm notched trowel to bond the membrane.
3
Uncoupling anti-fracture membrane
Place the membrane on the adhesive while still fresh and press down firmly on the surface with a float or a MAPEGUARD ROLLER.
4
Adhesive
Apply the adhesive using the double-buttering method (in straight lines parallel to the short side of the tiles).
Use a trowel with sloping notches (minimum notch size 10 mm) to spread the adhesive on the substrate and a trowel with 3-4 mm square notches for the adhesive on the back of the tiles.
To maintain the correct grout size and avoid the formation of lippage between adjacent tiles during installation, use the levelling systems from the MAPELEVEL range.

Porcelain tiles
6
Grout
Once the adhesive has set, carefully fill the grouts to their full depth using a rubber trowel without leaving gaps or steps.
When the grout loses its plasticity, clean the excess product with a wet hard cellulose sponge.
It is possible to finish the surface also when the mix is partially set, with a damp Scotch-Brite® sponge.
Remove any cementitious residues with ULTRACARE KERANET.
7
Sealant
Seal the perimeter and expansion joints after inserting MAPEFOAM to set the correct depth, then finish off the sealant surface with ULTRACARE SMOOTH SILICONE.
