Mapei, one of the world's leading manufacturers of chemical products for the building industry, is taking part as Diamond Sponsor in the most eagerly awaited international scientific event in the field of earthquake engineering, staged from 30 June to 5 July at the Allianz MiCo Congress Centre in Milan.
The
World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (WCEE), held every four years in a different city around the globe and now in its 18th year, will attract over 4,000 international experts from the academic world, research and structural, seismic and geotechnical engineering. The congress - organised by the International Association in Earthquake Engineering, ANIDIS and AIM Group with the technical-scientific support of the EUCENTRE Foundation and ReLUIS -
is the world's main meeting place for the scientific communities, public and private sectors.
For the Milan-based Italian multinational company, it represents an opportunity to share with professionals, designers and academics its experience in the field of structural strengthening of buildings. A know-how matured over the years thanks to the numerous interventions of structural restoration and rehabilitation of both public works and private buildings, also following the earthquakes that have struck the national territory in recent decades.
At WCEE 2024, in addition to being a Diamond Sponsor, Mapei will be present with an exhibition space at stands E35 and D30, where it will be possible to meet the technical staff and learn more about the solutions and systems for the static strengthening and upgrading of reinforced concrete, masonry and wooden structures.
In addition, Giuseppe Melcangi, Product Manager of Mapei structural strengthening line, and Luca Albertario, Regional Product Manager of Mapei building and structural strengthening lines, will lead a technical session entitled "Enhancement of existing structures with composite materials: use of proven technologies in modern engineering challenges", scheduled for Tuesday 2 July at 12:00 at Space 01. The guests of this round table will be three experts in the sector:
• Gian Michele Calvi, Professor of Construction Technology at the IUSS in Pavia and Adjunct Professor at North Carolina State University;
• Andrea Prota, Professor of Structural Engineering at the Department of Structures for Engineering and Architecture of the University Federico II of Naples;
• Salvador Ivorra, full professor at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Alicante in Spain.
An unmissable appointment in the heart of Europe in a multifaceted city like Milan. A city that welcomed Mapei more than 85 years ago and with which it has always shared a glance towards the future, attention to sustainability and continuous research into technological innovation.
