Work on the racetrack kerbs ready for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix
Mapei, a leading manufacturer of chemical products for the building industry, is boosting its involvement in motorsport. After working on world-famous racetracks such as the Misano World Circuit and Baku City Circuit, the Italian company has been involved in work on the kerbs of Imola Racing Circuit. The track named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari is getting a makeover in view of the forthcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix, the first Italian race of the season that will take place over the weekend of 18th-19th May.
The kerbs around the track have been coated with Mapecoat TNS Race Track, the acrylic waterborne, rapid film-forming, coloured coating manufactured by Mapei specifically developed for racing circuits. The Italian company's innovative product enables all the approval and safety standards required by FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) and FIM (Fédératon Internationale de Motocyclisme) to be met regarding products used to mark out the road surface of motor racing circuits This technology allows highly durable, non-slip surfaces to be created that maintain their surface roughness over the years, including in wet conditions. Furthermore, thanks to the ColorMap system, any colour can be custom designed to aesthetic requirements.
Mapei's ongoing commitment to the world of motorsport provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate the quality of its products. The work on upgrading the Imola circuit ready for the seventh race in the 2024 Formula 1 world championship demonstrates the Italian company's ability to respond to the specific needs of projects, guaranteeing safety and superior performance ratings while, at the same time, promoting sustainable mobility in the world of sport.
