Thirteen UCI World Championships being held over eleven days in Glasgow and across Scotland
A memorable milestone in the history of cycling: for the first time, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is uniting its UCI World Championships for different disciplines in one mega event. Mapei will be an Official Partner of this not-to-be-missed event, which will be a great opportunity to celebrate the company's 30 years of passion for the world of cycling.
The best riders in the world will come together in Glasgow and all over Scotland from 3rd to 13th August to put their talent to the test and try to win the rainbow jersey of UCI World Champion. The event will also stand out for its contribution to sustainability, public involvement, and its focus on innovation and progress in active mobility, health and wellness.
Veronica Squinzi, Mapei’s CEO, stated that "Being an Official Partner of this historic UCI World Championships is an honour and commitment we are proud to carry forward. Our corporate history is inextricably tied to cycling. A 30-year working relationship that still excites us. Many of the ideals that are so important to us come from this sport: passion, hard work, the determination to take on new challenges and teamwork".
UCI President David Lappartient said: “I am delighted that our Official Partner Mapei has joined the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships. The Italian company was already intrinsic to the UCI Road World Championships as Main Partner of our flagship annual event, and I am thrilled it is now also supporting the biggest cycling event ever organised.”
One of the locations of the forthcoming UCI Cycling World Championships will be the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome (at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena), built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with the help of Mapei products and technologies. With its 250-meter indoor track and seating capacity of 2,500, it will host the UCI Track and Para-track World Championships.
This year Mapei is celebrating an important milestone: thirty years supporting cycling, first as a sponsor of a first division team then as Main Partner of the UCI Road World Championships since 2008. This partnership will continue in 2024, confirming the company's commitment to the sport.
To celebrate this milestone, a commemorative jersey has been designed in partnership with Santini combining the iconic Mapei cubes with the rainbow colours of UCI World Champions.
