Mapei, through its subsidiary Mapei Colombia, has chosen to sponsor Deportivo Independiente Medellín, one of the most prestigious football teams in Categoría Primera A, the top league in the Colombian league.

Founded in 1913, the club, also known as "Poderoso de la Montaña," has over 110 years of history and a strong identity rooted in the local community. With six Colombian championships and three Colombia Cups in its history, Deportivo Independiente Medellín is a reference point for national football. The Mapei logo will be present on the sleeves of the team's official jersey both for league matches and Copa Colombia, further enhancing the brand's visibility in South American football, where it has been present since 2020 as the main sponsor of Club Atlético Lanús in Argentina.

Mapei will also provide its products for the renovation of Deportivo Independiente Medellín's training centre, helping to create optimal conditions for the club's sports development. This is part of Mapei's strategy to support not only sport, but also the infrastructures related with it, thanks to its wide range of solutions for sports facilities.

Mapei has been present in Colombia since 2017 with a subsidiary located in Medellín. With this sponsorship, the multinational company strengthens its relationship with the local community and opens up new opportunities for brand visibility in Colombia, a strategic market for growth in Latin America.

This partnership is also further evidence of Mapei's passion for the world of football: the company owns U.S. Sassuolo Calcio, which plays in Serie B and is based at the Mapei Football Center, and Mapei Stadium. It supported the Italian national team during the 2006 World Cup, and in addition to Deportivo Independiente Medellín and Lanus, it currently sponsors other club teams in different parts of the world: the Grazer Athletiksport-Klub of Graz in Austria, KIL Toppfotball of Kongsvinger in Norway, and the Tauro Fútbol Club of Panama City.
