12th February 2012 marks the 75th birthday of Mapei. Mapei has grown from humble beginning as a small family business into a multinational operation within this time, becoming a world leader in the manufacture of Adhesives and Chemical Products for the Building Industry.
Established in 1937 just outside of Milan, it was here that Mapei’s foundations and values were created. These values encompass creativity, competence, passion and flexibility which are still promoted within the company today. These basic principles continue to influence the company’s success and accounts for our annual 2.1 billion euro turnover in 2011 from across its 68 subsidiaries - with 59 plants, in 28 countries, across five continents.
Mapei has always placed great emphasis on research. In fact, the Group invests 12% of its company’s total work-force and 5% of its turnover in R&D; in particular, 70% of its R&D efforts are directed to developing eco-sustainable and environmentally friendly products.
Mapei has developed a sales and technical service network, with offices all over the world, which offer efficient Technical Assistance Service that is valued by architects, engineers, contractors and owners alike.
Celebrations will take place in Italy and in some countries abroad throughout the year to mark this milestone beginning with the Gala Performances of the opera Aida at La Scala, Milan, on the 19th and 21st of February. A total of 2428 invited guests attended these performances.
