A tiling installation at H&M Regent Street has been completed, by Kapelli Ltd, using an EMICODE:EC1 Plus certified Mapei tile system. The project, carried out for main contractor Powells, formed part of a sustainability-focused refurbishment of the central London store.
The newly refurbished store was designed by H&M's in-house Design Team, alongside its UK architects, Quadrant Design, around a mindfulness theme and with sustainability at its centre. Lighter and brighter, the store has a welcoming and relaxed feel, with historic features exposed and wider views of Regent Street. New sustainability-focused facilities also enable customers to donate and recycle items, as well as rent clothes, shoes and bags through the store’s new debut rental area.
In line with H&M’s sustainability focus, the Mapei primer, smoothing compound, adhesive and grout used featured very low VOC formulations with EMICODE:EC1 Plus certification. The specification included Mapei Primer G synthetic resin primer in water dispersion and Mapei Ultraplan Renovation Screed 3240 fibre-reinforced smoothing compound to prepare subfloors throughout the store. Tiles were then installed with Mapei Keraquick S1 quick-setting, deformable adhesive. The installation was completed with Mapei Ultracolor Plus from Mapei’s Zero Range – an anti-efflorescence, quick-setting and drying polymer-modified grout featuring water-repellent DropEffect® and with CO2 emissions entirely offset in the entire life cycle*
