Golf, cycling and nostalgic games had visitors flocking to Mapei World London City Specification Centre during Clerkenwell Design Week. The three-day programme of action-packed activities were hosted as part of Mapei’s celebration of sport, activity and wellbeing – and in support of its partnership with UCI
(Union Cycliste Internationale) in the run up to the 2023 Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland.
Throughout the three-day festival, Mapei welcomed over 300 visitors to its Sutton Street Specification Centre. Alongside product displays and demonstrations, the Centre was transformed with sport-themed interactive challenges and workshops. They included a crazy golf course and classic hook-a-duck game, each constructed using Mapei floor preparation, water-proofing and ceramic products. Both proved a huge hit, with competitors battling it out for prizes. The Mapei team, and visitors, also added miles to the UCI ’23 Million Miles Challenge’ on a Wahoo Bike, clocking up more than 150 miles during the event. Delicious refreshments from the Nitro Ice Cream Parlour, gourmet popcorn explosion machine and candyfloss - created at 60mph – were well received by all!
Exhibits during the event also showcased Mapei systems and solutions for sport - from adhesives for running tracks and sub-bases for synthetic grass, to decorative resin finishes for playing courts and full waterproofing and tiling systems for swimming pools and leisure centres.
