Mapei is extending its partnership with Ambrogio Beccaria and lending even more support to the Alla Grande project as his Global Sponsor. So, the multinational manufacturer of chemicals for the building industry will continue to take part to the oceanic ventures of the sailor from Milan with the kind of enthusiasm and engagement that are its hallmark.
Veronica Squinzi, CEO of Mapei, stated: "Ambrogio Beccaria is a young man who epitomises the values and ideals we believe in: tenacity, grit and perseverance in taking on new challenges. We embarked on this adventure with the kind of pioneering spirit that has always distinguished us, and Ambrogio's performance in the regattas, the teamwork and performance of this futuristic vessel have confirmed what we already knew: Ambrogio is a talented Italian, and we are proud to support him on his forthcoming ocean ventures".
Ambrogio Beccaria pointed out that: "Mapei's support was fundamental in the first stage of our project and continues to be so. They believed in us and totally committed to helping us set sail on this journey along with our other partners. For me, it is wonderful to be able to share this enterprise with a company like Mapei, whose research and innovation are of the highest level and whose passion infects everything they do".
Thanks to its wide range of products and notable specialisation, the company will continue to supply the project with its marine products for the construction of the latest generation Class 40 yacht the team designed and built. Consultancy with the Mapei Sport Research Centre will also continue, providing Ambrogio's with the fitness training, sports medicine and nutritional guidance he requires.
After finishing in an excellent position in the RORC Caribbean 600, the sailor from Milan is ready for a new ocean challenge: the Défi Atlantique, that sets sail on 1st April from the port of Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe for La Rochelle, France. Gianluca Guelfi, the boat designer, and Alberto Riva, the skipper and electronics manager, will be on board alongside Ambrogio.
The regatta, promoted by the Grand Pavois Organisation with the support of Class40, is a "return transat", i.e., a race created for teams who have decided to sail their boats home after winter transatlantic crossings to the Caribbean: 3500 miles divided into two stages, the first up to Horta in the Azores, and the second starting on 16th April from the Portuguese archipelago towards the finish line in France.
Mapei is ready to cheer on the entire Alla Grande team along the entire route of this new ocean adventure. May the wind be in your sails Ambrogio!
