Whitewater Pools has recently completed a stunning swimming pool complex in County Durham, using a complementary Mapei waterproofing and fixing system. Throughout the home spa complex, a variety of surface finishes provided a luxurious, contemporary feel; they included glass mosaics, large format porcelain floor tiles and coping stones, and a 3D feature tile finish, installed by tiling contractor, Scott Clelland.
Set within a new oak-framed construction in the property’s extensive grounds, Whitewater Pool’s home spa includes a 11m x 4m swimming pool. During the construction phase, Mapei systems were used to waterproof all areas throughout the complex, including the concrete pool shell and tile surrounds; they included Mapelastic Smart – a two component, highly flexible, cementitious waterproof membrane incorporating Mapenet 150 alkali-resistant glass fibre reinforcing mesh - and Mapeguard WP 200, an alkali-resistant waterproofing and anti-fracture membrane for overlaying with ceramic and natural stone floor tiles.
All surfaces were fixed using Mapei Keraquick XL Fibrelite – a rapid-set fibre reinforced lightweight cement-based adhesive suitable for natural and engineered stone and for large format tiles up to 1500 x 1500mm. The installation was finished with Ultracolor Plus Grout - an anti-efflorescence, quick-setting and drying polymer-modified formulation, featuring water-repellent DropEffect® and mould-resistant BioBlock®.
