Mapei-sponsored Adrian Otaegui & Andrew Wilson secure top ten positions at The Lakes
Congratulations to Mapei-sponsored Adrian Otaegui and Andrew Wilson who both finished in the Top 10 of the ISPS Handa Championship hosted in Spain last weekend.
The ISPS Handa Championship is the first of four consecutive events in Europe between the season’s first two majors – the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club and the US PGA Championship at Southern Hills - and the 12th of 45 events on the 2022 DP World Tour International Schedule.
Play at Infinitum Lakes Course, in Tarragona, Catalonia was hampered by unseasonally heavy rain, lightning and hail. Despite conditions, Adrian led the tournament after the 5th hole on the final round. However, a late surge by fellow Spanish compatriot, Pablo Larrazabal, meant that Otaegui required an eagle down the last hole to force a play-off. After an outstanding second shot on the reachable par 5, he narrowly missed the eagle putt and made birdie for outright second place on 14 under par, lifting him to 17th place on the DP World Tour Rankings.
Additionally, Andrew Wilson also had an incredible week with strong early rounds and finishing on 9 under par, claiming 7th place in the tournament and well positioned to take advantage of the busy summer schedule.
Mapei has a long and proud connection with sport, both locally and internationally, sponsoring Adrian and PGA Coach Chris Ryan since early 2019 and Andrew the following year. Closer to home, Mapei also sponsors Halesowen Town FC and Halesowen Cycling Club.
