Tomos Pattison a Halesowen Cycling Club cyclist has plenty to celebrate as the cycling season closes. Tomos beat off stern competition to win the club’s annual Mapei Award trophy, for being the most improved Halesowen Cycling Club Academy rider.
He followed this accolade up by winning the junior title in the RTTC National Hill Climb Championship in the Peak District last month. The competitors took on the brutal climb of Winnats Pass in Derbyshire. Tomos battled the climb and the appalling weather conditions to claim the title with a time of 3 minutes, 26.2 seconds.
David Viner, chairman of Halesowen Athletic and Cycling Club, said: "What a wonderful win for Tomos! For a 16-year-old to do this - it's an outstanding achievement. Following on from the Mapei Award on Saturday it has been quite a weekend. I know everyone at our club and Mapei are really impressed."
Tomos is definitely making a name for himself with in the sport, having previously finished second in a national track race in Glasgow, and winning a national road stage in Scarborough, both in July. Tomos Pattison a name to remember and a star in the making.
Well done and all the best for the future from everyone at Mapei UK.
