Access to Swim Programme Launches.

Mapei UK has recently pledged support to CRL Contractors for their Access to Swim programme to help Sefton Council provide free swimming lessons at Dunes Splash World in Southport.

With CRL, Mapei and fellow suppliers involved in the refurbishment of the leisure centre who offered support, Sefton council were able to  fund the programme, which provides a free 10-week course of swimming lessons along with swimwear, goggles and towels, for disadvantaged children and children in care who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to take part in such programmes.

The programme was successfully launched on Saturday 9th October with approximately 30 children attending lessons. They were well received by the children and carers/parents/guardians, and feedback was positive from the instructors/pool staff. The lessons will continue every Saturday until 11th December when the 10-week course will finish and children will be presented with certificates. Following that, another round of lessons will take place in the new year (no date has been set yet) with approximately 20-25 children participating.

We are thrilled to have been able to be a part of such a wonderful scheme helping children to get access to formal swimming lessons.
