For interior or exterior walls

MAPEI’s Manufactured Stone Veneer Systems (MSVS) line includes mortars that meet ANSI A118.4 and A118.15, with the superior performance necessary for foolproof installations. These mortars can be used in any climate from hot and humid areas in the Southeast… to Northern Canada where freeze/thaw resistance is important. MAPEI’s MSVS mortars are ideal setting-bed mortars and, because they don’t contribute to efflorescence, there are no efflorescence-related callbacks or customer frustrations. MAPEI mortars also offer the peace of mind in knowing that CO2 emissions are fully offset in the products’ life cycle.

MAPEI and Tree Canada Team-Up for Sustainability

Planting trees together to provide a more sustainable urban environment for a community school
June 19, 2024

Laval, Quebec – As the saying goes, when it comes to making a positive change in the world, one must think globally and act locally. MAPEI Canada decided to take up the challenge earlier this month, helping plant dozens of trees and shrubs as a small contribution towards our global commitment to building a more sustainable future.

Under an uncommonly hot early June sun in Laval, Quebec, a spirited group of 20 MAPEI Canada employees headed out from the office to the grounds of École Demers, a local elementary school, to lend a hand. That’s right, they literally got their hands dirty, digging, lifting, raking and planting young trees! In all, 17 trees of seven different species, plus 43 shrubs of eight different species were carefully planted on the grounds around the front and sides of the three-storey school.

It was all coordinated by Tree Canada, a non-profit charitable organization that promotes the planting and nurturing of trees in Canada's urban and rural areas. For 2024-2025, MAPEI has become an official supporter of Tree Canada and its initiatives nationwide.

"MAPEI Canada is proud to support Tree Canada in their mission to plant and nurture trees across the country. Our commitment to environmental sustainability aligns perfectly with Tree Canada's efforts to enhance urban forests and green spaces, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future for all Canadians," said Mick Kopis, Marketing Director, MAPEI Canada.

Mick and 19 other MAPEI volunteers arrived mid-morning to find an abundance of tools, bagged earth and cedar mulch laid out alongside a variety of potted young trees and shrubs chosen for their suitability for the native ecosystem. Tree Canada’s local team of seasoned planters was also in tow to provide a brief but detailed how-to seminar, as well as some hands-on training for the neophyte planters.

Once trained, the group was divided into teams of four to put their new skills to the test. While certain teams were faster than others at the labor-intensive task, all pitched in gamely, and no one was there to throw shade, knowing it’s the shade provided by the trees in the years to come that’s important. With that in mind, the group left satisfied that a small but important contribution had been made towards a more sustainable planet.

About Tree Canada

Since 1992, Tree Canada has worked relentlessly to grow Canada’s tree canopy through greening programs, research, and engagement efforts. Tree Canada is the only national non-profit organization dedicated to planting and nurturing trees in rural and urban environments.

Their track record of collaborating with all levels of government, the urban forestry sector, business partners, and community groups uniquely positions Tree Canada to engage Canadians in the fight against climate change.
