“Plan” to seal against water with MAPEI’s Planiseal 288 mortar

Laval, Quebec – MAPEI Inc.’s Planiseal 288 is a slightly flexible, two-component, polymer-modified, cementitious waterproofing and protective mortar for concrete and masonry.

This mortar can bridge fine cracks, be mixed to a trowelable or sprayable consistency and protect against carbonation when applied at a thickness of at least 80 mils. Planiseal 288 is ideal for interior and exterior applications; waterproofing of vertical walls and floors in concrete tanks and reservoirs; waterproofing and damp-proofing of concrete, masonry block and brickwork; and horizontal surfaces subject to light foot traffic, such as balconies and terraces.

Specifiers and design teams should know that Planiseal 288 can help contribute toward LEED points. It conforms to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule #1168 for air quality for Adhesives and Sealants, as it has 0 grams per liter of volatile organic compound (VOC) content. Subsequently, Planiseal 288 carries an SCS Indoor Advantage Gold rating and is listed on the current Living Building Challenge Red List Free list.
