Statoil’s new office at Fornebu costs about 1.75 billion NOK, not including the price of the underground parking garage. The building houses the international department, new energy technologies and projects, global strategy and development, as well as various corporate staffs. The building’s total area is 115,000 m2, including approximately 67,000 m2 of office space. Designed to A-lab architects received the award “Future Project of the Year-Commerial” at the World Architecture Festival in 2009, in competition with 272 projects from 67 countries. The sections were welded together on site. Prefabricated steel parts from Finland were used. The constellation of five building fins can symbolize that the group has been geographically dispersed, but now gathered in one place. The fifth lamella collector built and functions towards the core. The most important was what the building will achieve, says architect Odd Klev. |
