High-performance hydraulic binder used to make drainage layers for playing surfaces.
WHERE TO USE:
The high infiltration rate of sub-bases made from Mapesoil VD allows water to drain off quickly from playing surfaces. Unlike conventional drainage systems with a network of perforated pipes embedded under the pitch, sub-bases made from Mapesoil VD allow the water spread all over the playing surface to drain off in a constant, even flow.
Sub-bases constructed using Mapesoil VD display high permeability enabling high flow rates along their plane. Based on this it is possible to create drainage systems without the use of pipes. The even drainage rate over the entire surface of the pitch plays an active role in maintaining its functionality and performance characteristics, facilitates the work of groundsmen and reduces wear and maintenance costs, especially for natural and/or hybrid grass pitches. The high percentage of voids in the sub-bases made from Mapesoil VD also allows the lamination effect to come into play, especially in particularly bad weather when there is a high amount of rainfall in a short space of time. In fact, rainwater is quickly removed from the grass playing surface and collected in the Mapesoil VD screed. The communicating pores in the sub-base create a kind of reservoir under the pitch with a storage capacity of tens of cubic metres of water, depending on mix design and thickness installed (e.g. 20 m³ for an 8,000 m² pitch with an 8 cm layer of Mapesoil VD). If required, the Mapesoil VD drainage system can be connected to a system to collect rainwater around the edge of the pitch so it may be used to irrigate and/or cool artificial grass surfaces, thus preventing it going into the sewer system.
