Once again this year, Mapei is among the "most climate-conscious companies" according to the fourth edition of the survey carried out by Pianeta 2030 of the Corriere della Sera in collaboration with Statista, the company specialising in market research and business data analysis. The award recognises Mapei's constant commitment to reducing its CO2 emissions in relation to its turnover.
The analysis reviewed over 600 companies, awarding the 175 Italian companies that recorded the highest reduction in carbon dioxide emissions (scope 1 and scope 2) in relation to their company turnover. This year's list is based on the calculation of each company's global greenhouse gas emissions for the period 2021-2023, based on an analysis that also takes into account revenues for the same years. The presence of a sustainability report produced by the company was also a strategic factor in the survey.
For Mapei, this result is the outcome of a well-established corporate strategy in which
sustainability represents a cornerstone in building ever more responsible construction. In fact, every year the Group carries out detailed analyses to
monitor its impact on the environment. In addition to these studies, there is the continuous search for new solutions with a low impact on the climate and
the constant monitoring of the emission impact of the Group's products throughout their life cycle through the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodology, as well as the purchase and
self-production of electricity from renewable sources. In fact, the combination of all the photovoltaic systems currently operating at the various Mapei plants around the world has made it possible, in 2023 alone, to avoid the emission of around 1,400 tonnes of CO
2. into the atmosphere. Finally, the company has recently started a process to quantify the Group's
Scope 3 emissions as well.
"This recognition confirms that we are on the right track and that we must continue to move towards sustainable growth in order to continue to keep pace with change, says Mikaela Decio, Corporate Environmental Sustainability Manager at Mapei. Every year we produce the Sustainability Report, now in its eighth edition, the second referring to worldwide scope: this allows us to monitor every aspect of our activities and measure our impact on the environment, paying attention to the health of people and the Planet”.
