Mapei stands out in the Italian innovation scene, ranking among the "Innovation Leaders 2025", according to the analysis carried out for the first time by Statista, a market research leader specialising in the ranking and analysis of company data, in collaboration with Corriere della Sera.
The award recognises the 130 Italian companies that have distinguished themselves as particularly innovative for their use of advanced technologies and cutting-edge business models. For Mapei, innovation is a value that is part of its DNA, enabling it to adapt to changes and respond to new market challenges.
For the company, innovation passes, first and foremost, through research, which has always been one of the pillars of its strategy along with specialisation, internationalisation and sustainability. Every day, its 36 research centres around the world study innovative, durable, high quality and safe solutions for users and installers. This has enabled the Group to develop almost 5,200 formulations and qualify more than 550 raw materials in 2023 alone. Product innovation is precisely one of the aspects rewarded by the analysis, alongside Mapei's attention to the promotion of a corporate culture aimed at enhancing the growth of its resources, their training and collaboration, with an eye to future generations.
The survey involved 6,300 Italian companies through a comprehensive assessment that took into account various aspects: intellectual property, such as patents and trademarks, external evaluations by innovation experts and internal, employee evaluations. Statista then grouped the various elements that characterise innovation into three pillars: product innovation, taking into account a company's industrial property rights, such as new products or new functionalities, designs, trademarks; process innovation, i.e. the use of new ways and means to improve workflows, tools and software; and innovation culture, assessing the promotion of employees' innovative potential, support for creativity and entrepreneurship, as well as tolerance for mistakes.
