A beautiful and sustainable complex for the headquarters, R&D labs and training center
In the German city of Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt, Mapei has inaugurated the new headquarters of Sopro Bauchemie, a subsidiary of the Group since 2002 and a leading manufacturer of construction chemicals in Germany. Sopro Bauchemie is also currently present in Poland, Austria, Hungary, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
The new headquarters are home to the administrative offices, R&D laboratories, and a modern training center and covers a 20,000-square-meter site.
The new building complex, designed by Onsitestudio, a Milan-based architecture firm, led by Giancarlo Floridi and Angelo Lunati, consists of a set of five interconnected buildings enclosing the large courtyard. The main entrance and offices arranged over three floors are located in the first building, while the second contains the new training center and cafeteria. The testing room and all related facilities are located in the third building. The modern research laboratories with related offices and facilities are located in the fourth building, while the fifth includes technical support and storage.
The project took into account both the functionality aspect of the facility and its impact on the environment. The building complex has a powerful photovoltaic system, charging stations for e-mobility, more than 100 bicycle parking spaces and efficient wastewater management. These and many other measures contribute to achieving gold building certification in accordance with the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) certification system.
Veronica Squinzi, Mapei CEO, said: “We are proud to celebrate the opening of the Sopro Campus, a new state-of-the-art facility that will strengthen the Mapei Group‘s presence in Germany and offer our employees a modern, stimulating working environment. In the almost 23 years that Sopro has been part of our Group, the company has continuously expanded its market position and market share, more than tripling its contribution to the Group‘s total turnover”.
Marco Squinzi, Mapei CEO, declared: “Thanks to this new, modern and beautiful site, we will be able to respond even better to the needs of the local market and continue to grow sustainably in Germany. Research and development are at the heart of our Group. These new laboratories will help us to provide our customers with innovative, durable and high-quality products and solutions to contribute to an increasingly sustainable building industry”.
